How long does a bank transfer take?

Estimated wait
~1 day
Based on published sources
The "one day" means business days, not calendar days — weekends and public holidays don't count, and each bank has a daily cut-off time (Annahmeschluss). An order placed Friday afternoon or over a holiday can effectively take several calendar days. General information, not financial advice.

A standard electronic SEPA transfer in euros must legally reach the recipient's bank by the next business day (§ 675s BGB), and within the same bank it is often the same day. An Echtzeitüberweisung (SEPA instant) lands in about 10 seconds, any time of day, 365 days a year.

More details

Paper-based (beleghafte) transfers may take up to 2 business days, and international or non-SEPA transfers realistically take 1–4 business days or longer.
