A simple leg fracture is often in a cast for about 6–8 weeks and the bone unites in roughly 6–12 weeks (NHS), but the tibia (shinbone) and complex fractures commonly take 4–6 months to heal fully. Because the leg carries your weight, expect a non-weight-bearing phase on crutches for up to about 6 weeks, then several months of physiotherapy before walking normally and returning to sport.
