Results fade — coffee, tea, red wine and smoking re-stain teeth and shorten how long whitening lasts, so touch-ups are needed to maintain it. General information, not dental advice.

It depends on the method. At-home custom trays are worn gradually over about 2–6 weeks, with a visible change often by around 2 weeks (NHS). An in-office (laser) session is much faster — a single appointment of roughly 1–2 hours, sometimes as little as 30–60 minutes.

More details

Whitening is not permanent: results typically last from about 6 months up to around 3 years (NHS cites ~3 years with good care) depending on your habits.
